I’ve started to upload my projects onto the Behance online portfolio and thought I would share my experiences so far. Behance is the leading online digital portfolio website which is based in New York. It enables you to upload your projects along with any work in progress. You can share your work with other creative professionals, receive feedback and explore other artists work.
Behance is a subsidiary company of Adobe, and access to the site is now baked into the Adobe CC suite of applications, although you don’t have to own these to access the site. It seems from my browsing experience that the standard of work is pretty high on there. You can follow specific artists work and they can follow you.
I think the site is very easy to use, well presented and enables you to present your work in a clear way. You can also download a companion app for the iPad which also enables you to download and store your whole portfolio on the device, enabling the possibility of taking your portfolio with you on the road. It enables the upload of a wide range of content and also embedding of Vimeo, YouTube, Soundcloud, etc within the pages.
Also enabled is the possibility of gaining work through the job section of the site, although this seems to be orientated more towards North America than the UK/Europe.
Overall this is another conduit which enables sharing and promotion of your work, which is something I am developing prior to the completion of my MA in Moving Image and Sound at Norwich University of the Arts.
