VJ Culture – Adobe Motion Design Center

A great article that looks at VJ culture and the development of the art form. It starts out exploring the development of the camera obscura and colour organs through to the work of Mark Boyle, the so-called 5th member of Pink Floyd. He created the LSD fuelled visuals for the bands live shows in the late 1960’s and used projected chemical reactions, oils and light. It then explores the more contemporary artists working within this field, e.g Coldcut/Hexstatic and Mumbleboy.

A very informative and short read, really good introduction to the art form of performing visuals with music.
